Before reading
- Look at the cover. What do you see?
- Where do bears sleep in winter?
- Can you snore like a bear?
After reading
- Who came into the cave first?
- Was the bear asleep or awake?
- How did the bear feel when he woke up?
How to teach it
- Open the PowerPoint. Ask the "before reading" questions and teach the new words with the flashcards.
- Hand out one flashcard per child. Read the book aloud. Children hold up their card when they hear their word.
- Practise the sentence pattern together, then play the picture game in the slides.
- Ask the "after reading" questions.
- Finish with the printable project: Fill the Bear's Cave.
