Before reading

  • Look at the cover. What do you see?
  • What is the weather like today?
  • What would you like to fall from the sky?

After reading

  • What fell from the sky in the town?
  • Why did the weather become a problem?
  • How did the people get away?
  • Would you like to live there? Why?

How to teach it

  1. Open the PowerPoint. Ask the "before reading" questions and teach the new words with the flashcards.
  2. Hand out one flashcard per child. Read the book aloud. Children hold up their card when they hear their word.
  3. Practise the sentence pattern together, then play the picture game in the slides.
  4. Ask the "after reading" questions.
  5. Finish with the printable project: My Food Weather Report.
