Sentence practice

Good night, ___.

  • Look at the cover. What do you see?
  • What animals live at the zoo?
  • Where do zoo animals sleep?

After reading

  • What did the gorilla take?
  • Who followed the zookeeper home?
  • Where did the animals sleep?

How to teach it

  1. Open the PowerPoint. Ask the "before reading" questions and teach the new words with the flashcards.
  2. Hand out one flashcard per child. Read the book aloud. Children hold up their card when they hear their word.
  3. Practise the sentence pattern together, then play the picture game in the slides.
  4. Ask the "after reading" questions.
  5. Finish with the printable project: Put the Animals to Bed.
