Sentence practice

Goodnight, ___.

Before reading

  • Look at the cover. What do you see?
  • When do you go to bed?
  • What is in your bedroom?

After reading

  • What is in the bedroom?
  • Is it day or night?
  • What do you say goodnight to?

How to teach it

  1. Open the PowerPoint. Ask the "before reading" questions and teach the new words with the flashcards.
  2. Hand out one flashcard per child. Read the book aloud. Children hold up their card when they hear their word.
  3. Practise the sentence pattern together, then play the picture game in the slides.
  4. Ask the "after reading" questions.
  5. Finish with the printable project: Make a Bedroom.
