Can I play with the ___?

Before reading

  • Look at the cover. What do you see?
  • What is your favourite toy?
  • Do you share your toys?

After reading

  • What did the friends play with?
  • Why was the little llama upset?
  • How did they feel when they shared?

How to teach it

  1. Open the PowerPoint. Ask the "before reading" questions and teach the new words with the flashcards.
  2. Hand out one flashcard per child. Read the book aloud. Children hold up their card when they hear their word.
  3. Practise the sentence pattern together, then play the picture game in the slides.
  4. Ask the "after reading" questions.
  5. Finish with the printable project: Share the Toys.
