Before reading
- Look at the cover. What do you see?
- How do you get ready for school?
- What do you bring to school?
After reading
- How did the teacher get ready?
- How did the students get ready?
- What letters did you hear?
- What is your favourite thing at school? Why?
How to teach it
- Open the PowerPoint. Ask the "before reading" questions and teach the new words with the flashcards.
- Hand out one flashcard per child. Read the book aloud. Children hold up their card when they hear their word.
- Practise the sentence pattern together, then play the picture game in the slides.
- Ask the "after reading" questions.
- Finish with the printable project: Ready for School.
