This fish is ___.

Before reading

  • What is the opposite of old?

After reading

  • What colours were the fish?
  • What is a silly word from the book?

How to teach it

  1. Open the PowerPoint. Ask the "before reading" questions and teach the new words with the flashcards.
  2. Hand out one flashcard per child. Read the book aloud. Children hold up their card when they hear their word.
  3. Practise the sentence pattern together, then play the picture game in the slides.
  4. Ask the "after reading" questions.
  5. Finish with the printable project: Count and Colour the Fish.
