Before reading

  • Look at the cover. What do you see?
  • Show me how to press a button.
  • Can you clap? Can you blow?

After reading

  • What happened when we pressed the dot?
  • What colour dots did you see?
  • How many dots can you count?

How to teach it

  1. Open the PowerPoint. Ask the "before reading" questions and teach the new words with the flashcards.
  2. Hand out one flashcard per child. Read the book aloud. Children hold up their card when they hear their word.
  3. Practise the sentence pattern together, then play the picture game in the slides.
  4. Ask the "after reading" questions.
  5. Finish with the printable project: Colour the Dots.
